Multiple Injuries Reported in Wrong-Way Collision on I-20 in Atlanta

Around 3:00 AM on October 9, 2024, officers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver on I-20 East near H.E. Holmes. A male driver operating a 2019 Maserati was observed traveling against the flow of traffic, leading to a series of collisions after sideswiping a Jeep.

The incident resulted in multiple severe injuries, prompting a coordinated response from the Atlanta Police Department (APD), the Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO), and the Atlanta Fire Rescue (AFR), who worked together to shut down the expressway to assist the injured.

A male driver and a female passenger from the Jeep were transported to the hospital in serious condition, as was the wrong-way driver. Another male driver involved in the collision also sustained serious injuries.

As of now, there are no fatalities reported, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
