Stolen Vehicle Pursuit in Jones County Ends with Arrests, Firearms and Drugs Found

On Wednesday, October 2nd, the Jones County Sheriff’s Office received an alert about a stolen vehicle traveling on Highway 49 from Baldwin County. Deputy Morris quickly located the vehicle and initiated a stop, but the driver fled, leading deputies on a high-speed chase down Highway 49.

The pursuit ended when the driver turned into the Canes Crossing neighborhood on Chapman Road and reached a dead end. The driver then fled into nearby woods, while deputies arrested the passenger, identified as Devon Carl Huguenin.

Deputy Ribeiro, assisted by K9 Jones, tracked the fleeing driver, Travis Lamar Harrisson, into the woods, while Deputy Morris deployed a drone to aid in the search. K9 Jones successfully located Harrisson, who was taken into custody without further incident.

Inside the stolen vehicle, deputies discovered firearms and a quantity of ecstasy. Both Huguenin and Harrisson now face multiple charges in Jones County, including fleeing or attempting to elude, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of firearms during the commission of a felony. Both individuals are also wanted out of South Carolina.

Deputies Morris, Ribeiro, and K9 Jones were praised for their teamwork, with this marking K9 Jones’s first arrest.
