Driver Arrested After High-Speed Chase, Stolen Firearms Thrown from SUV

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputy initiated a traffic stop on a red SUV traveling along Mercer University Drive in Macon when the situation escalated. The driver, who was wanted on a warrant, sped up as passengers began throwing handguns out of the windows. Deputies later confirmed the firearms were stolen.

The chase ended when the SUV crashed on Tindall Avenue. The passengers fled on foot, but the 21-year-old driver was apprehended at the scene. He now faces multiple charges, including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer for a Felony Offense, Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, Obstruction of Officers, and Criminal Damage to Property 2nd Degree. The driver was also wanted for a Superior Court Violation of Probation warrant related to carrying a gun to school and theft by receiving stolen property.

Deputies recovered the stolen firearms, and the driver was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center without further incident.
