Four Arrested in Connection with Thomson Shooting Death
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office have arrested four individuals linked to the shooting death of Calvin Hart, Jr. on Friday, September 13, 2024. The suspects include Antavious Griffin, 20, Tyreon Mew, 18, Jatavious Griffin, 18, and Tony Griffin, 19, all from Thomson, GA.
Antavious Griffin was apprehended following a car chase in McDuffie County on September 17, 2024, and has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Felony Murder, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Additional charges related to the car chase have also been filed against him by the Thomson Police Department and McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office.
Tyreon Mew, who was a passenger in the vehicle during the chase, was also arrested and charged by law enforcement. Jatavious Griffin and Tony Griffin face charges of Unlawful Possession of Firearms or Weapons and Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity.
All four men are currently being held at the McDuffie County Jail.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
