Three Arrested in Connection with March 2024 Murder of Teen at Springhill Suites in Columbus

On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 5400 block of Whittlesey Blvd at Springhill Suites. Upon arrival, officers discovered 16-year-old Dennie Henderson deceased at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. EMS attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful. Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison pronounced Henderson dead at 4:54 a.m.

Following a thorough investigation, a warrant was obtained for Ty’Quavious Richmond on May 15, 2024, for the murder of Henderson. Richmond was arrested the next day.

On September 17, 2024, two additional suspects, Patrick Montgomery Jr., 17, and Dereon Montgomery, 16, were arrested in Lee County, Alabama. They were extradited to Columbus the following day and are scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on September 20, 2024.
