Drone Drop at Washington County State Prison Leads to Arrests and Drug Seizure

A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed a contraband drone drop at Washington State Prison on Wednesday night. While patrolling the area, the deputy heard the drone release a package and visually spotted it above the prison.

Shortly after, deputies located a suspicious vehicle nearby and observed multiple traffic violations. During the traffic stop, deputies noticed a large drone in the backseat and detected the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle uncovered illegal drugs and other prohibited items.

Two individuals were arrested and charged in connection with the incident:

  • Jasiah Guadalupe, 22, of Clayton, Georgia
  • Jordyn Seay, 19, of Hampton, Georgia

Both face multiple felony charges, including Trading with Inmates, Unlawful Use of Unmanned Aircraft System, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Felonies, Possession of Schedule 1 Drugs (Psychedelic Mushrooms), and a misdemeanor charge for Possession of Marijuana Less than 1oz. They were also given warnings for open container, failure to maintain lane, and headlight violations.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Corrections and other agencies, continues efforts to prevent contraband from entering the prison. Sheriff Cochran emphasized the commitment to maintaining the safety of inmates and staff through enhanced security and thorough investigations.
