Off-Duty Deputy’s Firearm Stolen During Pedestrian Robbery in Atlanta; Juvenile Suspect Detained

On September 18, 2024, around 7:00 p.m., Atlanta Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian robbery at 906 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW. An off-duty deputy reported being accosted by a juvenile male who wrestled the deputy’s firearm from him and fled on foot.

Officers canvassed the area and detained the juvenile suspect at his residence shortly thereafter. A search warrant executed at the suspect’s home led to the recovery of the stolen firearm. The investigation is ongoing, and arrest charges are pending.
