Former Haralson County Deputy Arrested for Sodomy and Incest

The GBI has arrested and charged Former Haralson County Deputy Thomas Roberts, age 30, of Cedartown, GA, with Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, and Incest.

On Friday, November 10, 2023, the GBI was requested by the Polk County Police Department to investigate an allegation of child molestation that occurred in Cedartown.

Haralson County Deputies brought Roberts to Polk County where he was booked into the Polk County Jail.

The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office said that they were contacted on Tuesday, September 17th, by the GBI in reference to the results of their ongoing investigation on Roberts.

“Due to the severity of the charges, the decision was made to terminate Thomas Roberts immediately.”, said Haralson County Sheriff Stacy Williams in a statement.

Roberts had been employed at the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Deputy for over a year.

“I have stood for transparency from the day I took office. I know that the GBI has conducted a careful investigation into this case,” states Sheriff Stacy Williams. “Once we knew the results of the investigation and the atrociousness of the charges, we promptly made the decision to dismiss the former deputy as well as make sure we were transparent to the citizens of Haralson County about this investigation and arrest.”

This investigation is active and ongoing.
