Thomson Resident Charged in Shooting Incident on Interstate 20
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Rakyus McCord, age 21, of Thomson, GA, on charges of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
On Friday, September 13, 2023, the GBI was called to investigate a shooting incident on Interstate 20 in McDuffie County. McDuffie County deputies had responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired from a vehicle. Preliminary information indicates that McCord discharged multiple rounds from a car he was riding in, striking another vehicle traveling on Interstate 20. No injuries were reported.
McCord has been booked into the McDuffie County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
