Carrollton Police Crack Down on Major Theft Rings

The Carrollton Police Department has announced recent successes in combating organized retail crime through the efforts of its Cyber Crime Unit. Noteworthy arrests have been made in connection with two major theft rings impacting prominent retailers in the Southeast.

Following a report of suspicious activity at the Carrollton Lowe’s, an investigation led to the identification of four male suspects from the Atlanta area involved in a significant theft ring. Two of the suspects, Qwaitraz Fenner and Dewaan Mack, were apprehended after using fraudulent contractor and business charge accounts for unauthorized purchases at the Carrollton Lowe’s. Through collaboration with Lowe’s, it was revealed that the group was responsible for over $100,000 in losses, affecting more than 34 Lowe’s stores across the Southeast.

While Fenner and Mack have been arrested locally, the investigation has provided information to other law enforcement agencies, resulting in additional charges and arrests related to thefts at various locations. Fenner and Mack face charges of Identity Fraud, Computer Invasion of Privacy, and Organized Retail Theft. The arrests underscore the effectiveness of interagency cooperation and the diligent work of Carrollton PD’s Cyber Crime Unit.

In a separate case, significant progress has been made in an investigation tied to Walmart thefts. Following a report from Walmart Asset Protection, it was determined that Romanian national Larisa Vasile-Sima, who was in the U.S. illegally, orchestrated thefts across multiple Walmart locations nationwide. Vasile-Sima’s activities resulted in over $98,000 in stolen jewelry.

Vasile-Sima was arrested locally, and the investigation has led to arrests by various agencies in Georgia and Alabama. She faces charges of Felony Shoplifting and Organized Retail Theft. Collaborative efforts and the identification of other group members have facilitated additional charges and arrests across multiple jurisdictions.

The Carrollton Police Department remains committed to addressing organized retail crime through proactive investigations and interagency collaboration, ensuring accountability and enhancing public safety.
