Off-Duty Taliaferro County Deputy Arrested for Home Invasion and Domestic Violence

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, at around 5:00 a.m., the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on the 1000 block of McInteer Circle in Greensboro, Georgia. The preliminary investigation revealed that Joshua Wilson, a 29-year-old off-duty deputy with the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office, had entered the home and engaged in a physical altercation with its residents.

Following the incident, Wilson turned himself in to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office around 7:00 a.m. to assist in the investigation.

Wilson, a resident of Winterville, GA, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including Home Invasion in the 1st Degree, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Simple Battery (Family Violence), Obstructing or Hindering a Person Making an Emergency Telephone Call, and Criminal Damage to Property in the 2nd Degree.

The investigation is ongoing.
