Atlanta Police Detain Suspect in Carjacking After Tracking Abandoned Vehicle

On September 10, 2024, Atlanta Police officers responded to a reported carjacking at 367 Illinois Ave in the Grove Park area. The victim, who was traveling on Illinois Ave, reported that a male suspect dressed in all red brandished a handgun and demanded their vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s Hyundai Elantra.

Officers later located the abandoned vehicle at 2190 Verbena in Dixie Hills. K-9 units were deployed to assist in the search for the suspect. Houston Paris was detained by officers, and a firearm along with narcotics were recovered from his possession. Paris also had an outstanding Failure to Appear (FTA) warrant.

The investigation is ongoing, with multiple arrest charges pending against Paris.
