One Killed, One Injured in Early Morning Crash on I-285 Near Ashford Dunwoody Road

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 3:48 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on I-285 westbound at Ashford Dunwoody Road. Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles involved in a collision, with individuals trapped inside one of the vehicles.

According to initial reports, a white Scion was traveling west on I-285 near Ashford Dunwoody Road when it began changing lanes toward the GA 400 exit ramp. At the same time, a red Ford F-250 was entering I-285 westbound from Ashford Dunwoody Road. The Scion and the F-250 collided at the bottom of the entrance ramp.

The impact of the collision left the driver and passenger of the Scion entrapped inside the vehicle. Dekalb Fire personnel responded and performed extrication. The passenger of the Scion, a 33-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. The driver of the Scion was transported to North Fulton Hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Ford F-250 sustained non-life-threatening injuries and did not require transportation to the hospital.

The Dekalb Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of the deceased passenger. The victim’s identity will be released once her family has been notified.
