Lithonia Man Gets Life Sentence for Kidnapping and Raping Ex-Girlfriend

On Thursday, August 29, jurors in a DeKalb County courtroom found Rassoloman Davis, 38, guilty on charges of Rape, Home Invasion in the First Degree, two counts of Aggravated Assault Family Violence, Kidnapping with Bodily Injury, and False Imprisonment stemming from the incident on July 3, 2016.

According to the investigation, the victim woke up early that morning when a masked man put a knife to her neck. The man dragged her out of bed and forced her down the stairs of her home. The woman tried to fight back and pulled on her attacker’s mask. That was when she recognized him as Davis, her ex-boyfriend.

Once downstairs, Defendant Davis zip tied the woman’s arms behind her back. He got a dining room chair and used zip ties to bind her legs, arms and body to the chair. He gagged the victim before tipping the chair backwards and raping her.

Defendant Davis then cut the victim free, changed clothes, gave the victim $80 cash, and made her promise not to call the police. She agreed so that Defendant Davis would leave, but immediately dialed 911 as soon as he left.

Today, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Brian Lake, who presided over the trial, sentenced Defendant Davis to Life in prison.

The case, assigned to the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit, was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Garrett Emmons with assistance from Senior Assistant District Attorney Ramika Gourdine, District Attorney Investigator Jennifer Alaedu and Victim Advocate Ashley King. DeKalb County Police Department Sgt. Erwin, who is now retired, led the initial investigation.
