GBI Investigates Unintentional Shooting Involving Three Men in Camilla, Georgia

At the request of the Camilla Police Department, GBI agents are investigating a shooting that occurred in Camilla, GA.

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Camilla Police asked for GBI assistance after a shooting involving three men at a mobile home in the 5000 block of Lori Lane. The victims, a 19-year-old and a 22-year-old, were shot by a 19-year-old man. Police responded to a report of the shooting, found the victims, and provided immediate medical care. Both men were later transported from a local hospital to out-of-county hospitals for further treatment of serious injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting was unintentional and that the victims were not targeted. Witnesses and evidence from the scene support this. No criminal charges have been filed at this time, and the condition of the victims will be monitored.

The case remains active, and anyone with information is urged to contact the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090. The case will be handed over to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.
