Gwinnett County Officer Dismantles Multi-Million-Dollar E-Commerce Crime Ring
On August 7, 2024, Gwinnett County Police Corporal Jimmy Wilson was honored with the Partnership of The Year award at the 2024 Georgia Retailers Organized Crime Alliance (GROC) conference. This prestigious award was given in recognition of Corporal Wilson’s instrumental role in dismantling a multi-million-dollar criminal enterprise that was selling stolen goods on e-commerce platforms.
Corporal Wilson’s investigation began with collaborating closely with retail investigators to identify the suspects responsible for stealing merchandise from multiple stores across Gwinnett County. His efforts included conducting jail interviews and employing various investigative techniques to gather evidence.
The investigation reached a critical point when multiple search warrants were executed, leading to the recovery of tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of new-in-box merchandise. Following these successful operations, Corporal Wilson partnered with the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office to charge the criminal enterprise under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute, marking a significant step in the fight against organized retail crime.
