Macon Man Found Dead After Pursuit in Henry County Had Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

At the request of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating the death of Wayne Fuller, age 44, of Macon, GA.

On Friday, August 16, 2024, at about 2:00 p.m., a Spalding County Sheriff’s Office deputy received a lookout alert for a car connected to a homicide in Bibb County. The deputy spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The driver, later identified as Fuller, fled, leading the deputy on a pursuit into Henry County with assistance from other agencies. A PIT maneuver was performed to end the chase. When deputies approached the car, they found blood inside and suspected that the driver was either injured or deceased. It was confirmed that Fuller had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Despite efforts to provide medical aid, Fuller was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies or officers were injured.

Fuller’s body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. The GBI will conduct an independent investigation into the incident, and the case will be reviewed by the Henry County District Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.
