Gordon County Deputy Shoots Woman Pointing Handgun During Domestic Disturbance
Shortly after midnight on August 16, 2024, Gordon County deputies were dispatched to a private residence on Erwin Hill Church Road near Sonoraville, Georgia, in response to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a woman brandishing a handgun. As they attempted to communicate with her, she pointed the weapon at them multiple times. In response to the perceived threat, a deputy fired at the woman.
The woman surrendered and was subsequently transported by ambulance with a non-fatal wound. No deputies were injured in the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation at the request of the Sheriff’s Office, as is standard procedure.
