Columbus Police Arrest 18-Year-Old Suspect in Shooting and Armed Robbery
On July 29, 2024, at 11:57 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to a shooting near South Lumpkin Road and Hendrix Avenue. The victim reported being shot in both legs after the suspect stole her pistol. The Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation.
The investigation identified Marcus L. Brown, 18, as the suspect. On August 13, 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Brown. He was apprehended on August 16, 2024, and charged with:
- Armed Robbery
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
