Shots Fired at Juvenile Walking Home from School in Albany

On Monday, August 12, 2024, Albany Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection of Lippitt Dr and S. Harding St around 3:52 PM. The incident occurred when a 16-year-old juvenile was walking home from school and shots were fired in their direction.

The suspects involved were identified as 18-year-old Jacques Hicks and 20-year-old Cornelius Ward Jr. Both suspects were located shortly after police arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.

Jacques Hicks was arrested and transported to the Dougherty County Jail, facing charges of Aggravated Assault. Cornelius Ward Jr. was released from custody by investigators and is no longer considered involved in the incident. Both suspects were initially taken to the Law Enforcement Center for further questioning.
