Five Shot at Atlanta’s Mechanicsville Reunion; 29-Year-Old Woman in Critical Condition

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 10:07 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 3 Officers responded to the parking lot at Rosa L. Burney Park, located at 540 Windsor St SW, after hearing multiple gunshots in the area. The incident occurred during the annual Mechanicsville neighborhood reunion, which had drawn a crowd of about 7,000 people.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that five individuals had been shot. A 29-year-old female was transported to a local hospital by EMS in critical condition. The other four victims—a 17-year-old female, a 33-year-old female, a 16-year-old male, and a 15-year-old male—were transported in stable condition. Witnesses reported that an unknown individual began shooting into the crowd. Investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
