Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect in Vehicle Hijacking
On Thursday, August 8, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an armed vehicle hijacking in the 1600 block of Anthony Road. The victim, a male, was sitting in his vehicle when a masked individual approached, brandished a firearm, and demanded the vehicle. The victim complied, and the suspect fled in the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Shortly after, deputies located the stolen vehicle in the 3400 block of Napier Avenue. A brief pursuit ensued, resulting in the suspect’s apprehension. The suspect, identified as twenty-two-year-old Christopher Dewayne Bonner of Macon, was found in possession of the stolen vehicle. Bonner was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Theft by Taking Auto, and Felony Theft by Taking. His bond has been denied.
