Man Dies After Shooting in Vine City; Case Now Investigated as Homicide

On August 6, 2024, around 2:00 AM, Atlanta officers responded to a call regarding persons shot at the location of 880 Thurmond in Vine City. Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gunshot wound to the head. He was not alert, conscious, but breathing and transported to the hospital in critical condition.

While on the scene, officers located two additional male gunshot victims, both with gunshot wounds to the leg. Preliminary investigation indicates the males were at the incident location when they suddenly heard gunfire. Investigators recovered shell casings and a firearm from the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.

Update: The victim with the gunshot wound to the head has succumbed to his injuries. This case will now be investigated as a homicide.
