Woman Captured in North Carolina for Meth Possession Linked to Towns County Investigation
On July 31st, the Towns County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding drug activity at a residence on Dills Road in Hiawassee. Upon arrival, deputies were presented with a plastic bag containing methamphetamine by a family member of the residence.
Drug investigators were summoned to the scene, and during the investigation, it was determined that the drugs belonged to India Dawn Shelton, a resident of the house. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for Shelton’s arrest for felony possession of methamphetamine.
On Thursday, August 1st, India Shelton was arrested on drug charges in Cherokee County, NC. A hold has been placed on her for extradition to Towns County. The investigation remains ongoing.
Sheriff Ken Henderson commended the drug investigators for their diligent work and the confiscation of the drugs, emphasizing the importance of keeping such substances out of the community.
