Nationwide Burglary Crew Busted After $300,000 Jewel Heist in Forsyth County
On November 17, 2023, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies responded to a business alarm at Simon D. Jewelers in Suwanee, where they discovered a back door pried open, several display cases smashed, and jewelry worth approximately $300,000 stolen.
During the investigation, Higuera Reyes-Flores, Rafael Hernandez and Pedro Garcia were identified as the suspects. The investigation revealed that this burglary crew had committed around 22 burglaries nationwide.
The lead detective on the case tracked the suspects to Columbus, Ohio, where they were observed casing a jewelry store in Zanesville, Ohio. FCSO collaborated with the Columbus Police Department, FBI Columbus, Zanesville Police Department, and Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office to apprehend the suspects.
Early yesterday morning, the crew attempted to break into the jewelry store in Zanesville by forcing the rear door open. They were met by approximately 15 law enforcement officers and three K9 teams and were taken into custody without incident.
The FCSO has obtained warrants for burglary, including smash and grab, and criminal damage to property in the second degree. Sheriff Freeman remarked on the situation, noting the diligent police work by FCSO detectives and expressing confidence in the forthcoming trials and jail sentences for the suspects.
