Crisp County Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Charges for Cordele Man

On August 1, 2024, around 4:00 P.M., a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo for improper stopping. The Deputy witnessed the driver stopping in the middle of the road and not wearing a seatbelt. Initially, the driver failed to stop after the Deputy activated lights and sirens. The car eventually stopped after going around the Rosewood Estates subdivision.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the Deputy detected the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of suspected marijuana, suspected Oxycodone, suspected Adderall, a digital scale, a grinder, and a firearm. The driver, identified as Samuel Davis, a 44-year-old male from Cordele, Georgia, was arrested and transported to the Crisp County Detention Center without incident.

Davis faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Marijuana – Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Crime
  • Pills not in the Original Container
  • Fleeing or Attempting to Elude
  • Other traffic violations
