Savannah Police Detectives have apprehended Raymond Washington, 24, and Antwon Fields, 21, in connection with a shooting that occurred on July 28 at the 1300 block of Love Street. The incident left one victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at approximately 9:30 a.m. on July 28. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Memorial Health, treated, and subsequently released.

The arrest of Raymond Washington unfolded dramatically on Sunday afternoon. Savannah Police initially attempted to negotiate with Washington, who was reportedly armed and holding a juvenile hostage. A SWAT team was deployed to the scene, and after hours of negotiations, the suspect was taken into custody. The hostage was safely secured, though no details were provided on the resolution of the situation.

Washington has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault (five counts), false imprisonment, and cruelty to children.
