Fugitive Arrested Following Threats Against Muscogee County Sheriff
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at approximately 3:00 PM, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received a phone call from an individual making multiple threats to kill the Sheriff and MCSO employees. Investigators with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit identified the suspect as wanted fugitive James Burditt.
At around 8:00 PM, MCSO Investigators located and arrested Burditt. He was found in possession of a knife and did not comply with deputies’ verbal commands. A Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW) was used to incapacitate Burditt, allowing Investigators to take him into custody without further incident.
Burditt was wanted for the following outstanding warrants:
- Felony Terroristic Threats – Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office
- Bench Warrant for Battery Family Violence – Harris County Sheriff’s Office
Additionally, Burditt was charged with Obstruction due to his non-compliant actions during his arrest. The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be pending.
