Wanted Murder Suspect in Lokchapee Landing Death Investigation Captured

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) investigators, with the assistance of the Gang Unit, have made an arrest in connection with the death investigation on Lokchapee Landing. Just before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, 19-year-old Brian Latrell Colbert Jr. was taken into custody at the Dempsey Apartments without incident. He was transported from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Colbert faces a charge of murder in connection with the death of 50-year-old Brian Matthew Brown, which occurred on November 26, 2023. He also faces four counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal damage to property, and one count of cruelty to children, related to an incident that took place on December 7, 2023, in the 1800 block of Cedar Ave, where a home was shot at. Colbert is being held without bond.

In April of 2024, the BCSO had requested the public’s help in locating Colbert.
