GBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Alto, Two Dead

At the request of the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Alto, Banks County, Georgia. Two people died in the incident. No deputies were injured.

Preliminary information indicates that at about 9:30 a.m., Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies were at a home on Cedar Drive in Alto to serve an arrest warrant. At about 11:05 a.m., Forsyth County deputies entered the home. During the incident, deputies shot two people, who both died at the scene.

Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputies were also at the scene to provide support but were not directly involved in the incident.

A GBI Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the two people who died. The two individuals have been identified as Joshua Everett Emmett, age 45, of Alto, GA, and Meagan Victoria Feaster, age 33, of Forsyth, GA.

The GBI will continue to conduct an independent investigation. Once the investigation is complete, it will be given to the Banks County District Attorney’s Office for review.
