Body of Pregnant Teen Found in Gwinnett County Wooded Area, Ex-Boyfriend Arrested
Jesus Monroy

The Gwinnett Police Department is investigating the death of a pregnant 16-year-old girl, Mia Campos, who was found in a wooded area near the 3600 block of Stephens Road in Loganville on July 15.

At approximately 1:00 am, officers responded to a 911 call from Campos’ family reporting her body had been found. According to the family, Campos left home the previous night with an unknown person and did not return. They used a cell phone application to locate her body.

Initial evidence at the scene did not reveal the cause of death. Detectives, crime scene investigators, and the medical examiner’s office processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. An autopsy conducted on July 16 determined that Campos’ death was a homicide.

On July 17, investigators arrested Jesus Monroy, Campos’ ex-boyfriend, for giving false statements to a police officer. The investigation is ongoing.
