Arrest Made in Macon Aggravated Assault Case on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with its Criminal Intelligence Unit and Patrol Units, has apprehended a suspect in connection with an Aggravated Assault investigation stemming from an incident on June 12, 2024, on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Atrium Health Navicent Police notified the Macon-Bibb County E-911 Center on June 12, 2024, regarding the assault of a 45-year-old female, later identified as Téarie Register, who was being treated at Atrium Health Navicent. Register reported being asleep outside the Douglas Theater when she was struck in the head with a brick. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, confirming the assault and identifying the suspect as 49-year-old Maurice Monterial Williams of Macon.

On July 9, 2024, Williams was apprehended around 10:00 p.m. while walking on Gray Highway and subsequently taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault and is currently held without bond.
