Reynolds Police Department Makes Drug Arrests Following Traffic Stop
On July 7, 2024, Sergeant Harrell of the Reynolds Police Department conducted a routine patrol in Reynolds when he observed a driver using a cell phone while operating a vehicle, alongside other vehicle violations. The driver, identified as Vernon Anderson (41 years old) from Columbus, GA, was found to have a suspended driver’s license during the traffic stop.
Subsequent investigation led to probable cause to search Anderson’s vehicle, resulting in the discovery of methamphetamine, drug-related paraphernalia, and a significant amount of U.S. currency.
As a result of the incident, the following individuals were arrested and charged:
- Vernon Anderson (41 YOA), Columbus, GA:
- Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act (VGCSA) for methamphetamine
- Possession of drug-related objects
- Traffic violations related to cell phone use and brake light requirements
- Jonathan Towns (44 YOA), Phenix City, AL:
- VGCSA violation for methamphetamine
- Possession of drug-related objects
- Justin Hands (41 YOA), Columbus, GA:
- VGCSA violation for methamphetamine
- Possession of drug-related objects
Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
