Two Arrested in Commercial Burglary Incident in Bibb County

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit has made two arrests in connection with the burglary of a commercial business on June 20, 2024. The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m.

Deputies on patrol noticed a white passenger vehicle backed in at the side of Houston Grocery, located at 4315 Houston Avenue in Macon, which was closed at the time. One male was seen removing property from the business and loading it into the vehicle, which was occupied by another male. Both men were detained by deputies.

The business owner confirmed that the men had no permission to be on the premises or take anything from the business. Investigators took both suspects into custody. The suspects have been identified as 62-year-old Eddie Eugene Slatton and 67-year-old Joe Wesley Shipman. The stolen property was recovered.

Eddie Eugene Slatton and Joe Wesley Shipman were transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and charged with Felony Second Degree Burglary. Both men are currently being held without bond.
