Violent Home Invasion Leads to Arrests in Warner Robins

Early in the morning on May 21, 2023, officers from the Warner Robins Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 400 block of Jackie Blvd. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Jesus Briceno-Vargas inside his home with a gunshot wound to his forearm. Briceno-Vargas and 32-year-old Yessica Casas-Castillo recounted being awakened by a loud crash at their front door, followed by armed intruders entering their bedroom. The suspects, demanding money, stole several items before shooting Briceno-Vargas in the arm and fleeing.

Fortunately, Briceno-Vargas was transported to a local hospital and is now in stable condition. During their investigation, Detectives Smith and Garcia found that the suspects had also attempted to break into neighboring residences but were unsuccessful.

After an intensive investigation, law enforcement arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. Among them are two 17-year-old juveniles, Latronza Burke Jr. and Jatavious Leyva, who face multiple charges including Criminal Attempt to Commit Home Invasion, Home Invasion, Aggravated Assault, and Armed Robbery. Additional details on the two other juveniles involved were not disclosed.
