Gwinnett County Police Shut Down Illegal Casino, Arrest 10 Individuals

The Gwinnett County Police Department has shut down an illegal casino operating under the guise of a billiards establishment and arrested 10 individuals on gambling-related charges.

On June 18, the police executed a search warrant at Sosa’s Billiards, located at 6070 S. Norcross Tucker Road in unincorporated Norcross. This action was the result of an investigation that began in 2023, when a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop and the vehicle’s occupant revealed he had just left a local “casino.”

Undercover officers from the vice unit confirmed the illegal gambling activities at Sosa’s Billiards. Steven Bae Kim, 66, of Duluth, the owner of the establishment, was charged with commercial gambling, keeping a place of gambling, and gambling. Seth Ryan Abernathy, 40, of Auburn, an employee, was also charged with commercial gambling. Eight other individuals were arrested and charged with gambling.

The search warrant also led to the seizure of drugs and money.
