Macon Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault After Shooting on Hillcrest Blvd

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with an aggravated assault investigation that occurred on Monday afternoon in the 900 block of Hillcrest Boulevard in Macon. The incident was reported to the Macon Bibb E-911 Center shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Deputies responded to the scene where a 59-year-old male was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics treated the victim on-site before transporting him by ambulance to a medical facility. According to medical staff, the victim is in critical but stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Through further investigation, deputies identified 36-year-old Larry Christopher Baker as the suspect. Baker was located at a residence in the 3400 block of Shenandoah Drive. Initially, Baker refused to exit the residence upon deputies’ request.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Gang Unit prepared to execute a search warrant, at which point Baker surrendered without further incident. A firearm was recovered from the residence. Baker was taken to Investigations Headquarters and subsequently transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Larry Christopher Baker has been charged with Aggravated Assault and is currently held without bond.
