Former Coweta County Deputy Arrested for Pointing Pistol at Another Deputy
Former Coweta County Deputy James Arthur Broadwater, 31, from Newnan, Coweta County, GA, has been arrested and charged by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) with Pointing a Pistol at Another and Violation of Oath by Public Officer. The arrest follows an inquiry initiated by the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office on May 7, 2024, into allegations that Broadwater pointed a pistol at another deputy.
According to the investigation, on May 1, 2024, after roll call at the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Broadwater engaged in a disagreement with another deputy. It was during this altercation that Broadwater allegedly drew his service weapon from its holster and aimed it at the other deputy.
Broadwater has been processed at the Coweta County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
