Former Employee Arrested for Golf Club Thefts at The Lodge in Glynn County

A man has been arrested following a series of golf club thefts from The Lodge on St. Simons Island. The Glynn County Police Department apprehended Justin Perkins, a former employee of The Lodge, on May 27 after identifying him as the individual responsible for the thefts.

Surveillance footage captured Perkins stealing golf clubs and other equipment valued at over $5,950 in three separate incidents between May 18 and May 26, 2024. Following a search warrant executed at a residence in Brunswick, Perkins voluntarily surrendered and cooperated with authorities. He confessed to the thefts upon viewing the surveillance footage.

Perkins faces multiple charges, including two counts of Burglary in the second degree and ten counts of Theft by Taking. The stolen items have been recovered and will be returned to their rightful owners in the coming days.

The Glynn County Police Department commended the diligence of The Lodge’s staff and the collaborative effort of the Major Crimes Unit and the GCPD Uniformed Patrol Division in resolving the case swiftly. The investigation is ongoing, and all persons are presumed innocent prior to trial.
