High-Speed Chase in Bibb County Ends with PIT Maneuver and Arrest
A routine traffic stop by a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputy escalated into a high-speed chase and dramatic arrest. The incident began when the deputy initiated a traffic stop on a Honda Accord at the intersection of Napier Avenue and Burton Avenue. Instead of complying, the driver of the Honda sped up, leading deputies through several streets before abruptly turning onto a street where children were present.
The deputy, prioritizing the safety of the children, alerted them using an air horn and performed a PIT Maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop before it could approach the civilians. The driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. During his escape, the suspect was bitten by a resident’s dog while trying to enter a yard and was found shortly after, hiding in a nearby shed.
A search of the vehicle revealed drugs and scales, and it was also discovered that the driver was wanted on numerous warrants. The suspect is now in custody, facing multiple charges related to the incident.
