Columbus Man Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting of Teen in 2023
After a year-long investigation, probable cause was established on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, to charge Donquerious King with the murder of DaMarcus Faison. King, already in Muscogee County Jail on unrelated charges, was served with the new charges, including murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
King is set to appear in Recorder’s Court on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 9 a.m.
The original case dates back to Wednesday, February 16, 2023, when Columbus Police Officers responded to a shooting in the 400 block of Mt. Pleasant Drive. Upon arrival, officers found 16-year-old DeMarcus Faison in the front yard of a residence, where a citizen was performing CPR.
Faison had sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased by an emergency room doctor.
The Homicide Unit took over the investigation following the incident.
