During its May 2024 board meeting, the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) greenlit the allocation of over $3 million for the establishment of a new College & Career Academy in Gilmer County. Named the Gilmer College & Career Academy, this project stems from a collaboration between Gilmer County Schools and Chattahoochee Technical College.
Governor Brian Kemp expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Every part of Georgia is experiencing strong economic growth, and we are working hard to prepare Georgians to seize the opportunities coming to their communities. This new partnership and facility underscores our commitment to connecting our citizens to the knowledge and skills they need to unlock success. Congratulations to Gilmer County on this milestone!”
The Gilmer College & Career Academy aims to provide students with opportunities for academic and professional advancement, ensuring they possess the skills and knowledge required to thrive in today’s dynamic job market.
TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier praised the initiative, stating, “We are proud to support the growth of College & Career Academies here in Georgia. This partnership exemplifies the collaborative spirit of Georgia’s educational institutions and underscores our collective commitment to preparing students for success in the workforce.”
The approved funds will facilitate the development and operation of the Gilmer College & Career Academy, enabling the expansion of educational programs and resources. With a focus on bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry demands, the academy will offer comprehensive programs tailored to meet regional business and industry needs.
Dr. Brian Ridley, Superintendent of Gilmer County Schools, expressed excitement about the partnership with Chattahoochee Technical College, stating, “We are excited to partner with Chattahoochee Technical College to provide more students with real-world learning that connects them to a career. This is a significant step forward in our efforts to provide more students with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy.”

By investing in cutting-edge facilities and educational programs, the state aims to prepare future generations of skilled professionals. Through hands-on learning experiences, industry partnerships, and personalized support, the Gilmer College & Career Academy will empower students to pursue their passions.
