Middle School Employee Arrested After Student Consumes Vodka from Water Bottle
Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 39-year-old Morgan County Middle School paraprofessional, Alexandra “Nicole” Ligon Lambert of Greensboro, on Thursday, May 2, 2024, around 1:15 PM. This followed an incident where a student drank from her Mountain Dew bottle and ingested alcohol.
Upon discovering the presence of alcohol, the county’s charter schools, citing their zero-tolerance policy, promptly detained Lambert. She was then transported to the Morgan County Adult Detention Facility and faces a citation charge of city ordinance disorderly conduct involving public drunkenness.
The incident unfolded when a male student, realizing the liquid was not soda, informed another teacher. Lambert was confronted, escorted to the principal’s office, and admitted to bringing the vodka-filled bottle onto school grounds, claiming it was an accident.
Authorities administered a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.259, three times the legal limit. Due to her condition, Lambert was not permitted to drive away. Additionally, the school’s assistant principal discovered an empty bottle containing alcohol residue in a trash can where the student had disposed of it.
Morgan County Charter Schools released a statement to parents and guardians, acknowledging the incident and emphasizing their commitment to the safety of staff and students. Lambert is no longer employed with the district, and they pledge full cooperation with law enforcement.
