Valdosta Woman Charged with Embezzling $600K from Freedom Trailers

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Brandi Hammond, aged 38, of Valdosta, GA, with eight counts of Theft by Taking and one count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud.

The arrest follows an investigation initiated by the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, July 7, 2023, which requested GBI assistance regarding theft allegations involving an employee of Freedom Trailers in Willacoochee. Hammond held the positions of General Manager and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Freedom Trailers.

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the GBI conducted a search at a location on Mathis Mill Road, Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, pursuant to a search warrant. Through the investigation, GBI agents, with support from forensic accountants, found that Hammond utilized various methods to embezzle over $600,000 from the company.

Hammond has been taken into custody and booked into the Atkinson County Jail. The Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance to the GBI during the search warrant execution and arrest.
