Suspect Apprehended After Reckless Chase in Clayton County
fter a series of incidents involving a Gold Toyota Avalon with Georgia license plates (tag SDK-6742), Clayton County Deputies have finally arrested the suspect, Alexander M. Dunn, following a reckless chase through Riverdale Rd.
The saga began on April 20, 2024, when the Toyota Avalon entered Clayton County and managed to evade a traffic stop initiated by deputies. The same scenario repeated on April 21, with the vehicle escaping once more.
On Wednesday, April 24th, the situation took a dramatic turn when the Sheriff Levon Allen’s Burglary Auto-theft & Truancy (BAT) Unit, conducting patrols in the area, spotted the familiar tag SDK-6742. Instead of plate being on a Toyota Avalon, it was now on a Black 2014 GMC Denali Terrain.
Calling for backup from nearby BlackHawk Units, the BAT Unit attempted a traffic stop. However, the suspect’s vehicle refused to comply and attempted to flee yet again.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the suspect drove recklessly down Riverdale Rd, colliding with a Chrysler 300. The GMC Terrain lost control, flipping over at Church Street, bringing the pursuit to a dramatic end.
Alexander M. Dunn attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by Sheriff’s K9 TIR.
Dunn now faces a total of 24 charges, including reckless driving, hit and run, possession of marijuana, and cruelty to children.
