Child Injured in Accidental Shooting, Relative Arrested for Reckless Conduct

A 9-year-old boy was injured in a shooting incident on Wednesday evening at 659 Hutchens Rd SE. Police arrived at the scene around 7:10 pm to find the child with a gunshot wound to his hand. He was conscious and breathing and was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations suggest that the child discovered a firearm in one of the home’s drawers and was playing with it when it discharged, injuring him. Officers interviewed the child’s grandmother, who was in the midst of preparing food at the time of the incident.

Upon obtaining consent to search the premises, officers found the firearm involved in the shooting, along with another unsecured firearm registered to Miuana Fair. Fair was subsequently arrested at the scene and charged with Reckless Conduct. She has been transported to Fulton County Jail without further incident.

It is important to note that the child’s grandmother has not been charged, as she claimed to be unaware of the presence of firearms in the home. Miuana Fair is reportedly a relative of the family but is not the child’s grandmother.
