McRae-Helena Driver Shot Inside SUV, Crashes Into Cemetery

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is probing the death of Montez Edronz McMillian, 33, of McRae-Helena, at the request of the McRae-Helena Police Department.

According to preliminary reports, authorities responded to a shots fired call around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the vicinity of E Magnolia Street in McRae-Helena, Telfair County, Georgia. Upon arrival at Oak Grove Cemetery, officers discovered McMillian deceased inside an SUV.

The incident took place near the intersection of E Magnolia Street and Daughtry Avenue. After sustaining gunshot wounds, McMillian’s SUV crashed through a fence at Oak Grove Cemetery before coming to a halt.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
