Three Arrested in Two Cordele Homicide Cases

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has made significant progress in resolving two separate homicide cases, resulting in the arrest and charging of three individuals from Cordele, GA.

In the first investigation, Lee Savage III, aged 21, has been charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault related to the death of Rondarrius Wedges, aged 19. The incident occurred on September 21, 2023, when Cordele Police responded to reports of gunshots on Tulip Ave. Upon arrival, officers found Wedges in a car with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Wedges succumbed to his injuries. Savage III was apprehended and booked into Crisp County Jail on unrelated charges.

The second investigation led to the arrest of Jayveon Royal, aged 21, and Kavien Butler, aged 19. Royal faces charges of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime in connection with the death of Davieon Lavant, aged 30. Lavant was found with gunshot wounds at Hilltop Apartments on January 5, 2024, and later passed away despite medical intervention. Butler is charged as an accomplice with Party to the Crime of Felony Murder and Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault. Both Royal and Butler were taken into custody and booked into Crisp County Jail.

The investigations involved collaboration between the GBI, Cordele Police Department, Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Community Supervision, and the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force.
