Heather Lowe Makes History as First Female Airport Manager at Middle Georgia Regional and Macon Downtown Airports
In honor of Women’s History Month, the spotlight shines on Heather Lowe, who recently achieved a groundbreaking milestone in the aviation industry. On February 6, 2024, after 84 years, the Middle Georgia Regional and Macon Downtown Airports welcomed Lowe as their first female Airport Manager.
Expressing her excitement and pride, Lowe stated, “Being the first female airport manager for the Macon airports is something I get excited about every day. Holding this position fills me with immense pride.”

Lowe’s journey to this historic role began with her tenure as Business Manager at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport/Macon Downtown Airport, followed by her work in the Air Logistics Complex at Robins Air Force Base. Actively involved in industry associations such as the Georgia Airport Association and Women in Aviation International, Lowe is dedicated to paving the way for more women in aviation.
Her advice for aspiring women in the field emphasizes the importance of embracing challenges, continuous learning, and finding a supportive mentor. Lowe’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on environmental sustainability and a master’s degree in aeronautics with a specialization in aviation/aerospace management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
