Teen Charged with Felony Murder Following Fatal Shooting at Snellville Party
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has announced the arrest and charging of 17-year-old Keegan Gates from Decatur, GA, in connection with an incident. Gates faces charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18.
This development comes after the Snellville Police Department sought GBI assistance in investigating the shooting death of 16-year-old Nasir Davis from Lithonia, GA, which occurred on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
According to the investigation, a disturbance erupted during a gathering in the 1900 block of Scenic Highway, Snellville, GA, on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Amidst the altercation, Gates allegedly shot Davis, who was present at the event. It is believed that Gates and Davis were acquainted. Davis was rushed to a nearby hospital but was tragically pronounced dead.
As of now, Gates is in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office is slated to conduct an autopsy on Davis to further ascertain the circumstances surrounding his passing.
